Environmental information about Plant-based We work with oils of the highest quality: plant-based, organic and food grade - even the essential oils - and therefore still full of beneficial substances. To do this, we work together with growers who share the same conviction. We also pick some of the plants in our beloved Wickenburgh forest. Here we maintain our soap herb garden and harvest various ingredients that have been growing here for centuries. Free from palm oil and irritants We never work with palm oil, animal fats or irritants such as perfume oil, dyes or foam improvers. From rich raw materials we make rich soap, which also feels right at home on the washbasin! Werfzeep is biodegradable and of course not tested on animals. Except for the honey soap and shampoo - both with honey from a local, organic beekeeper - our entire range is vegan. Organic & handmade We make all soaps by hand, in a large pan, in our soap studio on the Westerkade in Utrecht. Per batch we make one hundred and fifty pieces in one block, which is cut after twenty-four hours. After this, the soap matures for a few more weeks in our drying cabinets. After this process, a bar of Werf soap weighs approximately 100 grams. When the soaps are ready to be packed, they are cycled to the social workshop of Wij aan de Werf. Here, they are packed by a super team of soap packers, in a wharf cellar on the Oudegracht, near our soap studio.
