A little bunny goes to town alone by train. Mother rabbit waves after him. The bunny is sitting a bit sad in the back cart, all alone. But at each station a different animal gets on and they all have their own reason for going to the city. When they reach the final stop, they all run away. The engineer and the conductor take a nap under the station clock. At four o'clock all the figures return happily. The train leaves. It is a lot of fun along the way because they have all experienced something fun. At the end of the ride, Mother Rabbit is waiting on the platform. She sees her bunny get out with a big smile and asks: 'Did you enjoy the train? What did you bring?' The bunny wraps his arms around the mouse with the bandaged leg and together they happily shout: 'A friend!!!' In this popular picture book, text and illustrations (ink drawings colored with watercolor) enter into a true symbiosis. The text is sweet and full of experiential words; the illustrations are soft and appealing and offer plenty of detail. A warm story by an author who, like the illustrator, has already made her mark with numerous books for adults and children.
