This fiber optic patch cable is designed for creating short single-mode fiber optic connections between passive cabling ports and active network equipment within a structured cabling environment according to ISO IEC 11801. The cable is a duplex configuration with ST connectors on both sides and is suitable for single-mode OS2 (9/125 µm) according to ITU-T G.652.D applications. The connection is an ST-ST fiber optic link for point-to-point connections or for connecting patch panels to active network ports. The LSZH jacket is halogen-free, low-smoke, and flame-retardant according to IEC and EN standards. The cable is equipped with aramid strain relief for mechanical stability and long-term reliability. Explanation of OS categories (single-mode fiber optic) OS stands for Optical Single-mode and describes the attenuation class of single-mode fiber optic. • OS1 single-mode fiber for indoor installations with typical attenuation ≤ 1.0 dB/km at 1310 nm. • OS2 low water peak single-mode fiber according to ITU-T G.652.D with typical attenuation ≤ 0.4 dB/km at 1310 nm and ≤ 0.3 dB/km at 1550 nm. General explanation of fiber optic cables • Fiber optics transport data via light signals instead of electrical signals. • Single-mode fiber optics use a single light path and are suitable for long distances and backbone connections. • Multimode fiber optics use multiple light paths and are suitable for shorter distances within buildings. • Simplex single optical fiber for data transmission in one direction. • Duplex two optical fibers for simultaneous communication in both directions.
