Description

Serial RS232 connector 9-pin SUB-D (m) - 10-pin Terminal Block / screws Use this 9-pin RS-232 data connector to equip a cable or device with a 9-pin SUB-D connector. The connector must be screwed to the cable. Terminal Block A Terminal Block connector is an ideal connector for hobby or test applications. The connector can be reused multiple times and is easy to attach to a cable. SUB-D connectors SUB-D connectors, also known as D-Sub or D-Subminiature, are common plug connections mainly used in computers. The name miniature was appropriate for the time these connectors were common, but nowadays it is a rather large connector. SUB-D connectors have their own numbering system, always starting with 'D', followed by the plug's code with the exact number of pins. SUB-D connectors are available with 9 pins (=E), 15 pins (=A), 25 pins (=B), 37 pins (=C) and 50 pins (=D). This is followed by 'M' for Male or 'F' for Female. DB25M is therefore a male 25-pin SUB-D connector, while a DA15M is a SUB-D 15-pin connector. USB to serial If your system does not have a serial port, you can convert a USB port to a serial port. Use a USB to serial converter for this. RS-232 pinout While the RS-232 connector originally had 25 pins, to also transport a secondary RS-232 communication channel, today you will practically only encounter 9-pin RS-232 connectors.
