Measure the outer diameter of the crown race seat on the steerer tube and the inner diameter of the crown race. The crown race must be approx. 0.1 - 0.2 mm smaller than the crown race seat for a proper press fit. If the difference is greater, mill the crown race seat to size (applies to forks with metal crown race seats). If the crown race can be pushed onto the seat too easily, a suitable retaining compound, e.g. from Loctite, should be used. If the inner diameter of the crown race > outer diameter of the seat, assembly is not possible. 2. Place the crown race onto the steerer tube and push it as far as possible towards the crown race seat. 3. Place the appropriate aluminium ring (for 1.5" or 1 1/4" ) on the fork cone. 4. Place the driver tube over the aluminium ring. If the steerer tube is longer than 335 mm, use the extension parts. Drive the crown race with measured hammer blows until it sits properly flat.
