Bolfo Gold is suitable for the prevention and treatment of fleas in dogs weighing 10 kg to less than 25 kg. For dogs weighing less than 10 kg or 25 kg or more, use the appropriate Bolfo Gold flea drops for dogs. The product kills existing fleas on the dog within one day of application and protects against flea population growth for four weeks. Bolfo Gold can also be used as part of a flea allergy dermatitis treatment strategy.

There are some restrictions on use. The product should not be used on unweaned puppies under 8 weeks of age. To administer, remove a tube from the packaging, hold it upright, and remove the cap. Then, place the open end of the tube on the skin between the dog's shoulder blades and squeeze firmly several times to empty the contents directly onto the skin. The product should only be applied to undamaged skin, and recently treated animals should not lick each other.

Some side effects may occur, such as a bitter taste and salivation if the dog licks the application site immediately after treatment. This disappears within a few minutes without treatment. It is important to wash hands thoroughly after use and to wash off any skin contamination with soap and water. Studies with imidacloprid in rats and rabbits have not shown any primary embryotoxic, teratogenic, or reproductive toxic effects.
