The AGM Taipan TM15-384 is a general-purpose thermal imaging camera for a specific market segment. The Taipan series is designed for users who want a step up from entry-level quality, but who also don't want to spend thousands of euros. This thermal camera features a 384x288 detector (12μm), a 15mm lens, and a large 17.5-degree field of view. This makes the Taipan TM15-384 suitable for general observation at short and medium distances.

Internal properties
The device has a 50Hz refresh rate, providing real-time images. This means you can easily track moving targets without delay. The thermal image is projected on a full-color 1280 x 960 pixel display. The binoculars have an optical 1.5x magnification and a digital zoom of 2x, 4x, and 8x, resulting in a maximum total zoom of 12x.

Range of the thermal image
The thermal camera can detect objects up to a distance of 708 meters. This is the distance at which you "see something" and should not be confused with the identification distance (for example, only when identifying a person can you determine whether they are male or female). The field of view is 17.5 by 13.1 degrees. Thanks to the automatic focus, you don't need to constantly adjust the focus manually.

Useful features
You can display the surroundings to your preference using four color palettes: White hot, Black hot, Red hot, and Fusion (also known as Rainbow). The thermal camera also features a Hot Track function that instantly "points" at animals/people with a cursor. You can also measure the approximate distance to people, objects, or animals using the "Distance Measurement" function. You can also adjust the contrast and brightness to five levels.

Record, share, and live stream
With the Taipan, you can capture endless footage. Your photos and videos are automatically saved to the internal 8GB memory. Using a Wi-Fi connection or the included USB-C cable, you can easily transfer your footage to your smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc. The Taipan series also lets you livestream images to your smartphone or tablet. For this, you'll need the free T-Vision app, available for iOS and Android . This allows you to remotely control the thermal camera and also capture footage. The connection is via Wi-Fi.

Physical characteristics
Thanks to the IP67 certification allows you to use the device in a wide range of (weather) conditions. The binoculars are waterproof and dustproof and can withstand a 1.5m drop onto concrete. You can also use the camera effortlessly in extreme temperatures (-20°C to +55°C). The AGM Taipan has an internal Li-ion battery with a runtime of up to 7.5 hours. A standby mode is also available to extend the battery life even further.
