With the brake disc tester from CYCLUS TOOLS, bicycle owners and mechanics can quickly and easily determine when it is time to replace the brake disc. This is important to prevent unexpected braking problems and ensures that the bicycle always brakes safely and reliably.

Regular checks with this tester ensure that the brake disc is in perfect condition and maximizes its lifespan. Each brake disc has a wear limit specified by the manufacturer (MIN TH = Minimum Thickness). This value must not be exceeded, otherwise braking performance will be reduced and the cyclist's safety will be compromised.

Most brake discs are marked by the manufacturer with the wear limit. Example: Shimano Min th = 1.5.

Operation

The brake disc to be tested must be clean so as not to influence the test result. Set the tester to the wear limit (MIN TH) specified by the manufacturer. Then use the blocking wheel.

Then place the test probes of the tester on the braking surface and ensure that they are approximately perpendicular to the brake disc. Do not test near holes or slots. Press the measuring pin fully and read the wear reserve on the scale. Check in several positions to ensure an accurate result.

The tester indicates how much wear reserve your brake disc has (in 0.1 mm increments). The "STOP"position indicates that the brake disc needs to be replaced.

Important note

Brake disc manufacturers specify a wear limit (MIN TH) which may not be exceeded at any point. If the minimum thickness is exceeded, the braking function and therefore safety are no longer guaranteed.

New brake pads may only be installed if the minimum thickness is not exceeded.
