Virbac epi-otic oil-free ear cleaner

Epi-Otic is a non-irritating, drying ear cleaner with disinfecting properties based on lactic acid and salicylic acid in encapsulated (spherulites) and free forms, and contains chitosanide and sodium docusate. It is excellent for softening and removing excess earwax and inflammatory material in the external auditory canal of dogs and cats.

Lactic acid has disinfectant properties (pH-lowering). Salicylic acid has keratolytic properties (softening the stratum corneum) and therefore anti-inflammatory and anti-itch properties. It has a drying effect. Spherulites are layered microspheres that provide delayed release of active ingredients, resulting in longer-lasting effectiveness. Chitosanide is a biodegradable biopolymer that bonds with spherulites to the skin and hair and has a moisture-regulating effect. Sodium docusate reduces surface tension, significantly improving the penetrating power of the liquid.
