The bolt forces are aligned with the clamp so that the stem 'embraces' the handlebars, making lightweight handlebars less likely to be damaged. This clamp design allows for a lighter faceplate and stem housing without sacrificing strength or stiffness. The stem is forged 2014 aluminum for further weight reduction.
