Description

To solder connections on a circuit board, various products must be used. First, you need a soldering iron to make the connection. This is made with solder, which is heated and liquefied by the soldering iron. Other products you can use include cleaning agents and tools to undo an old connection. With Velleman SOLD100G6 solder, soldering for electronic applications becomes very easy. The properties of this product make the solder easy to work with and ensure a strong connection. **Properties** The Velleman SOLD100G6 solder consists of 60% tin and 40% lead. The combination of these metals makes the metal easy to work with and liquid at high temperatures. The melting point is therefore 185 degrees Celsius. This temperature is easy to achieve when using the correct type of soldering iron. To ensure that the liquefied metal adheres well to the parts to be connected, a flux core is used. This flux core allows the metal to spread well after heating. **Other properties** This product is sold on a roll with a weight of 100 grams. The diameter of the item is 0.6 millimeters, and it is completely acid-free. This solder is an alloy that partially consists of lead. Due to the lead, the melting point is much lower, and soldering can be done more easily. If a new solder joint is being made, this product can be used directly. If the solder is used to repair an existing connection, it should be checked whether it was made with leaded or lead-free solder. Both types cannot be used in combination with each other. **Additional information** To check if old solder contains lead, you can look at the surface of the solder joint. If it has a shiny surface, the solder used does not contain lead. In that case, the old connection must be removed so that a completely new one can be soldered. If the surface is dull, the alloy does contain lead. It is also advisable to clean the parts to be connected thoroughly before soldering with this solder. Ask a product question
