Description

This multiband shark fin antenna is designed for mounting on a vehicle's roof and combines multiple wireless communication systems in a single housing. The antenna supports LTE, WLAN, and GNSS (GPS and GALILEO) and can be used with vehicle systems such as navigation, mobile data, and wireless networks. The antenna features three separate RF connections: a FAKRA D jack for LTE, a FAKRA Z jack for WLAN, and a FAKRA C jack for GNSS signals. The mechanical coding of the FAKRA connectors ensures that each connection can only be made with the correct cable. The integrated GNSS patch antenna receives satellite signals from GPS L1 and GALILEO E1. For improved signal reception, an LNA amplifier with a gain of 28 dBi and a low noise figure is integrated. The antenna also supports LTE frequency bands from 698 – 960 MHz and 1710 – 2690 MHz, and a WLAN frequency band of 2.4 GHz. This allows the antenna to be used for mobile data connections and wireless network applications. The housing has an aerodynamic shark fin design and is made of ABS plastic. Thanks to its IP67 protection rating, the antenna is suitable for outdoor use on vehicles and is resistant to dust and water. GPS L1 GPS L1 is a navigation frequency of GPS satellites with a frequency of 1575.42 MHz. GALILEO E1 GALILEO E1 is the European satellite navigation frequency similar to GPS L1. LTE LTE (Long Term Evolution) is a mobile communication standard for 4G data connections. WLAN WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) is a wireless network, often known as WiFi. LNA LNA (Low Noise Amplifier) is an amplifier that amplifies weak antenna signals with minimal noise. VSWR VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio) indicates how well an antenna is matched to the transmission line. dBi dBi is a unit indicating the gain of an antenna relative to an isotropic antenna. Polarization Polarization describes the direction in which a radio signal is transmitted. RHCP RHCP (Right Hand Circular Polarization) is a circular polarization commonly used in satellite navigation. Frequency band A frequency band is a specific range of radio frequencies used for wireless communication. GHz GHz (gigahertz) is a unit of frequency equal to one billion cycles per second. MHz MHz (megahertz) is a unit of frequency equal to one million cycles per second. Impedance Impedance is the electrical resistance for alternating current signals in RF systems. Many antenna and coax systems operate with 50 Ohms. IP67 IP67 means that a device is completely dust-tight and temporarily waterproof. RG-174 RG-174 is a thin coaxial cable widely used for RF signals and antenna connections. ABS ABS is a strong plastic often used for electronic enclosures. FAKRA FAKRA connectors are coaxial RF connectors for radio frequency connections in vehicles. FAKRA types • FAKRA A – black – RF connection / radio • FAKRA B – cream – GSM / telematics • FAKRA C – blue – GPS antenna • FAKRA D – burgundy / purple – satellite radio • FAKRA E – green – GSM / LTE • FAKRA F – brown – RF communication • FAKRA G – gray – radio / RF signal • FAKRA H – violet – video / camera systems • FAKRA I – beige – radio antenna • FAKRA K – yellow / curry – RF communication • FAKRA L – red – RF communication • FAKRA M – orange – digital radio / DAB • FAKRA Z – water blue – universal key coding Ask a product question
