Description

This fiber optic patch cable is designed to create a singlemode FTTH connection between a fiber optic connection point and active equipment such as an ONT or modem within a structured cabling environment according to ISO IEC 11801. The cable is a simplex configuration with LC-APC (8°) connectors on both sides and is suitable for singlemode OS2 (9/125 µm) applications. The connection is an LC-APC to LC-APC fiber optic connection and is used in FTTH, FTTB, and FTTx installations in homes, offices, and technical rooms. The LSZH jacket makes the cable suitable for indoor use with low smoke emission and halogen-free properties according to IEC guidelines. The applied G.657.A2 bend-optimized fiber allows a minimum static bend radius of 30 mm without increasing attenuation. Specifications • Cable type fiber optic patch cable • Configuration simplex • Fiber type singlemode 9/125 µm • Category OS2 according to ITU-T G.657.A2 • Connector side 1 LC-APC (8°) • Connector side 2 LC-APC (8°) • Connector standard IEC 61754-20 • Connector finish APC (8° angled polish) • Ferrule ceramic (zirconia) • Cable diameter approx. 3 mm • Jacket material LSZH • Color white • Minimum bend radius static 30 mm • Operating temperature −40 to 85 °C • Test protocol individual test protocol with Insertion Loss and Return Loss • Strain relief reinforced with aramid yarn IEC standards • IEC 60793-2 specification of singlemode optical fiber • IEC 61754-20 definition of LC connector interface • IEC 60332-1 flame retardant properties of cables • IEC 60754-2 determination of halogen-free material • IEC 61034 determination of smoke emission Explanation of terms • LC-APC fiber optic connector with 8° angled polish for low reflection and high return loss • OS2 singlemode category suitable for transmission at 1310 and 1550 nm over long distances • G.657.A2 bend-optimized singlemode fiber with smaller minimum bend radius, compatible with G.652.D • FTTH Fibre To The Home, fiber optic connection to the home • Insertion Loss optical attenuation at transition between fiber optic components • Return Loss degree to which reflected light is suppressed in a connection • LSZH Low Smoke Zero Halogen jacket without halogen and with low smoke emission General explanation of fiber optic cables • Fiber optics transmit data via light signals instead of electrical signals • Singlemode fiber uses a single light path and is suitable for long distances and backbone connections • Multimode fiber uses multiple light paths and is suitable for shorter distances within buildings and data centers • LC compact fiber optic connector with snap lock • SC rectangular fiber optic connector with push-pull lock • ST round fiber optic connector with bayonet lock • FC fiber optic connector with screw lock • Simplex single fiber for data transmission in one direction • Duplex two fibers for simultaneous communication in both directions Explanation of OM categories (multimode fiber) OM stands for Optical Multimode and describes the technical quality of multimode fiber. The OM category determines the maximum data rate, bandwidth, and transmission distance. Higher OM categories offer better performance at higher speeds. • OM1 multimode fiber with a 62.5 µm core and a bandwidth of approximately 200 MHz·km. • OM2 multimode fiber with a 50 µm core and a bandwidth of approximately 500 MHz·km. • OM3 laser-optimized multimode fiber suitable for 10 Gb/s up to approximately 300 meters. • OM4 improved laser-optimized multimode fiber with higher bandwidth for data center environments. • OM5 wideband multimode fiber designed for use with multiple wavelengths via SWDM technology.
