The (outgoing) microphone signal is passed on to the 4-pole stereo connection. The (incoming) signal going to the headset comes via the other connection. This is therefore not a standard splitter for connecting, for example, 2 stereo headphones. Usage To avoid confusing the two connections, handy icons are used on the splitter. On one side, a 3.5-millimeter stereo jack plug, also known as an AUX plug, is mounted. This can be used for connecting, for example, a smartphone or tablet from which an audio signal can be played.
