Spirit Island is a complex, thematic cooperative game in which you protect your island from colonizing invaders. Players each take on the role of a different guardian god of the land, each with their own unique powers in different elements. Each turn, players simultaneously choose which of their power cards to use and pay energy to do so. The longer the game goes on, the more powerful each side becomes. The island gods gain increasingly powerful powers, and the invaders colonize more and more of the land.
