Description

The Marumi Filter DHG ND2-ND400 is a variable gray filter with a diameter of 62 mm. Gray filters exist in various strengths, for example ND2 (1 stop), ND4 (2 stops), ND8 (3 stops), etc. The variable ND filters from Marumi consist of two polarization filters that can turn over each other, so that the degree of light damping can be regulated. A single variable ND filter can therefore replace a series of fixed ND filters, making it more practical to use. By turning the ring you reduce the light from ND2 to ND400 (1 to 8 stops).

As a filter, a gray filter is used to, for example:

  • On clear days with a lot of sunlight, weaken the light in such a way that the shutter speed can be extended to capture movement such as the flows of water, see photo 3
  • On clear days with a lot of sunlight, a very large aperture can be used so that the depth of field of a photo can be reduced
  • On clear days with a lot of sunlight, use a diaphragm that is further away from the demo fractional limit, which results in a sharper photo
